Two Arrested As Police Rescue Kidnapped Egyptian In Delta

The rescued Egyptian

ASABA – The Delta State Police Command has arrested two suspects for allegedly kidnapping an Egyptian.

The Egyptian was in the custody of the suspect for over six months until rescued by the police in Asaba, the Delta State capital.

Reports said the victim was lured to Asaba by a gang of international kidnappers, led by one Sunday (Surname withheld), with the pretense of awarding him a contract in Nigeria.

It was also gathered that the victim’s wife has been paying huge amount of ransom into an account belonging to one of the suspects.

As at the time of filling this report, the victim was said to have been receiving treatment at the police hospital while his family members have been contacted.

An insider, who confided on Daily Independent Newspapers, narrated that when he returned from election duty on March 10, he heard people quarrelling and when he stepped out to find out what was amiss he found nobody.

“We asked further from the man we saw he told us that he was having quarrel with his brother but we did not see the so call brother. Less than five minutes after a man came out from their room and could not give any explanation on what caused their quarrel he couldn’t say anything meaningful but the whole scenario looked suspicious, and we were not convinced with their explanation. So, we sensed a foul play”

“We lay siege and began to monitor their movement. It was on that ground that we were convinced that all was not well, and I decided to call police. When police came, we went inside the duplex and search everywhere and all their doors were forced opened and behold we found an Egyptian who was kidnapped and kept in the house since September, 2018’’.
