Naira Marley: Twitter users accuse singer of promoting fraud

– Nigerian social media users have taken to the platform to react to the type of contents in Naira Marley’s songs

– While many people have condemned the singer for promoting cyber crimes, others have defended the singer

– This is coming shortly after the arrest of 80 Nigerians in the US suspected to be fraudsters

Naira Marley is one Nigerian singer who has managed to remain a controversial topic for discussion on the Nigerian entertainment scene. From his arrest down to the type of songs he puts out, it doesn’t seem to be ending soon.

The singer who is currently trending on social media, has got many social media users accusing him of promoting the online fraud popularly referred to as ‘yahoo’ in Nigeria.

Marley, who shortly after his release from EFCC, released the song, Soapy, got many people talking following the very suggestive dance step he invented for the song. Despite the controversy surrounding that song, he has gone ahead to release yet another one, Opotoyi which he dedicated to his fans, Marlians.

The songs which have since become hits, have caused quite the controversy on social media as many people have accused the singer of promoting cyber crimes through his music.

This is coming after the United States announced the arrest and prosecution of 80 alleged fraudsters, many of them Nigerians, in what it called a massive conspiracy to steal millions of dollars through various schemes.

The announcement was made by Nick Hanna, the US attorney, who alleged that the suspects connived with state and federal agencies to carry out their acts.
