The Ibori Golf and Country Club is embarking on talent hunt for young golfers and as well as develop the game in Delta State, Barrister Daniel Mayuku, founder of the Evergreen Initiative has said.
Speaking to Sunday Vanguard sports in Asaba during the just concluded 2nd Evergreen Pro-Am Golf tournament, Mayuku said, “apart from what other golf clubs have in the state, we are doing everything to develop the game in the Ibori Golf and Country Club.
We are doing a lot to catch them young, a lot of tournaments have been organized. We have the Caddie tournament and Junior tournament and we also have age grade categories, a tournament for players between the ages of 15 and 22. In these tournaments, we try a lot to encourage these upcoming golfers and give them souvenirs especially kits for the game to enable them play and also train them.
I’m what I am today because of sports, sports did a lot for me. If not for sports, I don’t know what I would have become. For me, I take sports seriously and if there is anything I can do to improve the sports, I will do. Lawmaking is an opportunity to represent my people but my love for sports can never be compromised.”
