Encomiums as Sunny Odogwu is laid to rest

Ochei Matthew, Asaba

The body of elder statesman and former Board of Trustees member of the Peoples Democratic Party, Sunny Odogwu, was on Friday laid to rest at his residence in Asaba, Delta State after a funeral service at St Patrick Catholic Church.

The service was attended by political associates, businessmen, family members, well-wishers, including Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, who was represented by his deputy, Kingsley Otuaro; and Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State.

In his sermon, the Catholic Bishop of Asaba Diocese, Bishop Michael Elue, said that the life of a man is short and defined by God.

He urged everyone to live a good life and impact meaningfully on people’s lives so as to attract the mercy of God.

He said, “There is life after death; one is sweet and cool and the other is bad and painful, depending how you once lived your life.”

Elue described the late Odogwu as a devout Christian and a man of integrity.

Okowa said Odogwu lived a good life, adding that his administration was touched by his demise.
