Delta PDP, APC Warn Police Against Intimidation

ASABA – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Nigeria Police (NP) in Delta State have pledged to be non-partisan during Saturday’s presidential election.

While Kingsley Esiso, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), implored the police not to allow themselves to be used to intimidate some persons by opposition parties, Mr Turner Ogboru, the All Progressives Alliance (APC) leader, urged the police to ensure that security was beefed up at flashpoints to limit chances of rigging and violence.

Speaking on Tuesday in Asaba during a stakeholder meeting between INEC and security agencies, Dr Cyril Omorogbe, the resident electoral commissioner, assured that the presidential election would be different from what which Deltans witnessed in the past.

He said that election would hold in all 270 wards with 3,624 polling units registered by the commission at 5,863 voting points.
