Chevron tennis programme begins

The final leg of the Chevron Junior Tennis Workshop and Enlightenment Programme for pupils between the ages of 12 and 16 will run from Monday (today) to Wednesday at the Tennis Centre, National Stadium, Abuja.

The programme is aimed at introducing the sport to at least 100 pupils in six target communities across Nigeria, as well as give them tips on how to live a successful life and be very good citizens.

Godwin Kienka, Director, International Tennis Academy, which runs the programme, said, “The participants should be able to appreciate and follow the sport intelligently, take it up for recreation or become tournament players.

“The programme has taken place in Lagos, Warri, Akure and Port Harcourt already, and everywhere we went was oversubscribed. That tells me our young ones are hungry for sports programmes that will benefit, engage and empower them and possibly change their lives for good.”
