The church members ended the one week mourning of the deceased with a Rosary procession which started from the boundary between Imufu and Ogrute in the area through the MCC Aji Road to the scene where her corpse was discovered on Tuesday, March 27, in a bush.

The Parish Priest of St Joseph’s. Rev Father Rufus Achinike, C.S.Sp, and his Assistant, Rev Fr. Johnson Nwanonenenyi, led the procession of the Catholic faithful as they prayed for God’s forgiveness of her sins as well as intervention to ensure the arrest of her murderers.

Ngozi had gone to the Township One School, Ogrute for private lessons  that would enable her pass the on- going JAMB examinations on March 26, but did not return home, as her naked corpse was discovered by passersby in a bush the following day. Before Ngozi’s death, a widow in the community, Mrs Nweeja Emmanuel Abugu Onah was abducted from her matrimonial home and killee by unknown persons. Her corpse is yet to be recovered. Meanwhile, the prayers by the Catholic faithful is said to be yielding fruits as homicide detectives were said to have made some “breakthrough towards arresting Ngozi’s killers.”

However, as Ngozi’s murder was making the rounds over 2000 women, all dressed in black attire also demonstrated along the major roads of Ogrute, the headquarters of Igbo-Eze North Local Government, over the unresolved murder of four members of another nearby Isiugwu Community.

The women listed those killed whithin some intervals to include Christiana Ezeja, Felix Idoko, Ernest Aleke and Ike Idoko. The fifth person, Madam Ngozi Ossai reportedly escaped death by the whiskers as the attackers could not succeed in killing her due to the timely intervention of her son.

At a church service to mark the end of late Ngozi Eze’s mourning, Rev Fr Achinike, prayed God to ensure that detectives unravelled those behind such dastardly act.

Both the Secretary to Igbo-Eze North Local Government,  Mr Hillary Ogili, and the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, for the area, Mr C.N. Attah, who addressed the women demonstrators from Isiugwu, commended them for being peaceful. Attah said that three of the victims were killed before he was posted to the local government, while Mr Ogili said that their agonies would be conveyed to both the state government and the police for necessary action.community
